Club Photo Albums:Lake Minnehaha |
Built in 1906 the Lake Minnehaha was one of six 'Express Lake Boats' bringing Lake residents to Excelsior, Minnesota, to connect with street cars for the trip to downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. These boats designed by A. W. Scarratt, Bob Stettner's grandfather, were scuttled in 1926 as paved roads and the automobile became the favored mode of transportation.
Raised in 1980 from 60 feet below Lake Minnetonka and restored over the next sixteen years, the Lake Minnehaha once again carries tourists on daily excursions on Lake Minnetonka.
The post card is from the initial tourist season in 1996. The other two photographs were taken on Bob Stettner's 2002 summer trip to trace the accomplishments of his grandfather, A. W. Scarratt.
